Job DescriptionWe are seeking a certified Master Plumber to enhance our maintenance team. We are looking for a great fit to join our Facilities and Operations team within Student Affairs Housing Maintenance, a dedicated department of professionals committed to maintaining 47 residence halls and serving more than 10,500 residents.
This role is pivotal in ensuring residence hall plumbing system operation, alongside occasional support in minor electrical and mechanical equipment repairs. Reporting directly to the Housing Maintenance Supervisor, this position also involves close collaboration with the Associate Director for Facilities for larger projects or customer service needs.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems across Virginia Tech's residence halls.
- Contribute to the training and development of maintenance department trainees.
- Provide master-level skills in minor electrical and mechanical equipment repairs, as needed.
- Train and supervise both professional and student employees, ensuring work quality and service timeliness.
- A Master Plumber certification, accompanied by significant experience in plumbing installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- A demonstrated ability to mentor and lead a team, fostering a learning and growth environment.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a passion for making a positive impact on the resident experience at Virginia Tech.
- The ability to work collaboratively across teams and with different levels of the organization.
- Current Virginia Master Plumbers Tradesman License or a journeyman license with commensurate experience.
- Considerable experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot/diagnose issues in a residential/commercial environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to use them in a team setting.
- Experience in a large commercial or institutional setting.
- Formal vocational education.
- Experience with an online work order system.
- Significant knowledge of steam systems.

Salary InformationSalary $55,000 - $65,000/year and commensurate with experience

Additional InformationThe successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as a driving check with a safe driving record. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
