Description

The Psychiatrist position provides quality psychiatric evaluation, treatment and medication management for individuals served by NRVCS. Provides consultation to staff about clinical and medical services issues. Provides presentations or training to agency and community as needed.

Responsibility
  • Provides comprehensive clinical treatment by providing basic health exams, psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and medication management. Diagnose using criteria delineated in the DSM-5. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic studies for monitoring of disease progression and pharmacological effectiveness.
  • Works with Psychiatric Services Team to ensure the availability of adequate staffing to provide quality psychiatric care throughout the NRVCS system.
  • Performs at the expected levels of individual and team productivity. Ensures all documentation is in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements as they pertain to DBHDS Licensure, HIPPA, Medicaid, NRVCS Policies and any other applicable regulations and/or guidelines. Provides LMHP level oversight, review, and sign off for staff as assigned.
  • Maintains all communications, both written and verbal, with respect and confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 standards and regulations.
  • May be asked to mentor Nurse Practitioners or other staff by the Medical Services Senior Director, if that supervision does not interfere with the psychiatrist's ability to complete clinical duties with clients. This additional responsibility will only be incurred if it is mutually agreed upon by the Psychiatrist and their Supervisor
  • Assists with provision of crisis resolution and ensuring that safety needs are met as identified. Refers for and/or provides Crisis Stabilization and/or Crisis Intervention services as needed. Must be accessible by telephone after hours to help manage emergencies if assigned.
  • Ensures services are provided with respect to the dignity of the individuals served as outlined in the State and NRVCS Human Rights Plans. Advocates for services on behalf of individuals served and their families/care givers as needed. Documents and reports suspected violations of Human Rights according to NRVCS policies.
  • Provides and/or refers individuals and families/care givers for psycho-education in psychiatric services related areas to promote better understanding of mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders.
  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records, and completes all administrative documentation (i.e. Power Time, incident reports, leave requests, etc.) on time. Stays informed about and follows all NRVCS and funding sources' policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all safety, health, and infection control procedures are properly addressed and monitored. Immediately reports to a supervisor any observed or suspected problems that involve individual or program safety, welfare, and/or other potential policy and procedure violations and completes a NRVCS Incident Report Form documenting each incident within 24 hours.
  • Strives to promote continuous quality improvement of services through the timely completion of QA activities (i.e. satisfaction surveys, outcome measurement reports, etc.) and participates in ongoing networking with individuals served, families and/or care givers, other NRVCS programs, and other community agencies and resources as needed.
  • Assists with crisis resolution and general problem-solving.
