SEN Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities Pupil Support

• Support individual pupils or small groups with a range of additional learning needs, which may include ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, or complex learning difficulties.
• Assist pupils with their learning activities under the direction of the class teacher.
• Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and medical needs where required, in line with care plans and training.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem.

• Assist the teacher in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials.
• Support the delivery of tailored learning programmes and interventions.
• Help create a structured, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

• Implement behaviour support strategies consistently.
• Support pupils during unstructured times such as break, lunch, and transitions.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to pupils' emotional and sensory needs.

• Experience of working with children or young people (ideally in an SEN/ALN setting).
• A caring, patient, and flexible approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Good communication and teamwork skill.
