Position OverviewThe Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across all company operations. This position plays a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, conducting job site audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations. This is a field-based position that requires approximately 50% travel to multiple project sites and close collaboration with the National Hydro Excavation Services team.
Key Responsibilities- Foster and maintain a strong culture of safety across all work sites
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs in line with OSHA and other regulatory guidelines
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and safety meetings to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement
- Lead accident investigations and ensure proper documentation and follow-up
- Assist in developing Emergency Action Plans and coordinate responses to site incidents
- Provide ongoing safety training and presentations for field personnel and management
- Offer technical safety support to teams in the field
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, and compliance documentation
- Ensure safety supplies are available and maintained at all job sites
- Collaborate with project teams to proactively identify and address potential risks
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5-15 years of experience in construction safety or related field
- Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in construction safety practices
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Experience in Risk Assessment/Management and data analysis
- Familiarity with time reporting systems and safety tracking software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across various media
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Proficient with PC-based applications and quick to learn new software
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to travel to job sites regularly, with occasional overnight stay
This position is field-based. Job sites currently include locations in Nebraska and Iowa.
