Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
Rate
: £13.50 per hour
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business seeking a Lab Technician to support its Quality team on an initial three-month temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory, testing or scientific experience who enjoys working in a fast‑paced production environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring products consistently meet quality standards through analytical testing, monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out routine laboratory testing and analysis in line with established procedures.
- Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in‑process products and finished goods.
- Record, interpret and report test results accurately.
- Support production teams by identifying quality issues and recommending corrective actions where required.
- Provide guidance and training on testing procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure testing equipment is maintained, calibrated and used correctly.
- Follow laboratory, quality, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with investigations into non‑conformances and quality‑related concerns.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the laboratory and production areas.
- Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science.
- Understanding of laboratory environments, scientific testing or quality control processes.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good IT and record‑keeping abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory, quality assurance or manufacturing environment.
- Basic HACCP awareness.
- A scientific qualification or degree would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Experience conducting analytical, microbiological or product testing.
- £13.50 per hour.
- Monday to Friday working pattern with no weekend requirement.
- 37.5‑hour working week.
- Opportunity to gain valuable laboratory and quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Potential for the role to become permanent following the initial temporary contract.
