Senior Site Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

Our client, a major civil engineering contractor, is seeking a highly competent Senior Site Engineer to supervise and manage construction activities on significant infrastructure projects based in and around Bloemfontein . This role demands a practical and hands-on approach, ensuring that all civil engineering works are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, coordinating with subcontractors, managing site resources, and ensuring strict adherence to project specifications and timelines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, excellent leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of construction techniques and site management. This is an on-site position integral to the successful delivery of vital infrastructure development in the Free State region.

• Supervise and manage all civil engineering aspects of construction projects on site.
• Ensure that construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Develop and implement detailed work plans and schedules for site operations.
• Manage and direct site personnel, including foremen, operators, and labourers.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor site progress, identify any deviations from the plan, and implement corrective actions.
• Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols on site.
• Conduct quality control checks and ensure that all works meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
• Manage site logistics, including material management and equipment deployment.

• National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr Tech Eng, Pr Eng) is a significant advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in site engineering and construction supervision, preferably on infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, water infrastructure).
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective team and stakeholder management.
