Architectural Designer - Urban Planning

Our client is seeking a creative and analytical Architectural Designer with expertise in Urban Planning to contribute to transformative development projects in Bloemfontein . This role focuses on the conceptualization and design of master plans, urban precincts, and public spaces, ensuring functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing urban environments. You will play a key role in shaping the future growth and development of the Free State province, working closely with town planners, landscape architects, and community stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is passionate about urban design and has a strong ability to visualize and articulate complex spatial concepts.

• Develop urban design concepts, master plans, and detailed site plans for various development projects.
• Conduct site analysis, context studies, and feasibility assessments for urban planning initiatives.
• Prepare design presentations, visualizations, and reports for clients and public consultations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, landscape architects, and sociologists.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant zoning regulations, urban design guidelines, and environmental policies.
• Contribute to public participation processes and stakeholder engagement activities.

• B.Arch or M.Arch degree with a specialization in Urban Design or Urban Planning.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in architectural practice, with a significant focus on urban design and planning.
• Proficiency in urban design software such as AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS software.
• Strong understanding of urban planning principles, sustainable development, and public space design.
• Excellent visual communication, graphic design, and presentation skills.
• Experience in community engagement and public consultation processes is advantageous.
