About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Needs Education Coordinator to lead their dedicated support team in Bloemfontein . This crucial role involves overseeing the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, therapists, and external specialists to ensure that all students receive appropriate support and resources to thrive academically and socially.

The position requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of special education best practices, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment within the Free State .

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on effective strategies for supporting students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Liaise with parents and guardians, ensuring open communication and active participation in their child's education.
  • Collaborate with external specialists, therapists, and community resources to supplement in‑school support.
  • Monitor student progress, assess the effectiveness of interventions, and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Organize and deliver professional development workshops for staff on special needs education topics.
Requirements
  • A relevant degree in Special Needs Education or a related field.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with students with special needs and/or coordinating special education services.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African special education legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of various disabilities and learning challenges, and effective intervention strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
