Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teacher Assistant to support students with diverse learning needs in Bloemfontein . You will work closely with lead teachers to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students. This role requires patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping students with special needs reach their full potential.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, a strong communicator, and skilled in assisting students with various learning, behavioral, and physical challenges, contributing to an inclusive and supportive educational setting.
- Assist lead teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct support to students in a classroom setting, both individually and in small groups.
- Help students with learning, behavioral, and physical challenges to engage with the curriculum.
- Monitor student progress, behavior, and participation, reporting observations to the teacher.
- Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Support students with daily living activities and personal care as needed, ensuring their well-being.
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in special education support is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with children with special needs in an educational setting.
- Understanding of various disabilities and learning challenges.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observation skills.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
