Solar Panel Technician - Field Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Solar Panel Technician to join their expanding field operations team serving the Welkom region. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential and commercial clients. You will work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring that solar installations are performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This hybrid role requires a blend of hands‑On technical skill and effective communication with clients and management, contributing to the growth of renewable energy adoption.

• Install and mount solar panels, inverters, and associated electrical equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of solar PV systems.
• Diagnose and repair system faults and performance issues.
• Conduct system performance testing and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Manage inventory of tools and materials required for installations and repairs.
• Provide basic training to clients on system operation and maintenance.

• Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a solar technician or in a similar electrical installation role.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles and solar PV system components.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and working at heights.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the service area.
