Senior Wind Turbine Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Wind Turbine Technician to join their operations team in the Bloemfontein area. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance and repair of wind turbines, ensuring maximum uptime and optimal energy production. This hands-on role requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues  a senior member of the team, you will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, contributing to the overall success and safety of the wind farm operations.

This is a critical role in supporting the growth of renewable energy in the Free State.

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on wind turbine systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot turbine faults and failures, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, service reports, and parts inventory.
• Mentor and train junior technicians, sharing technical expertise and best practices.
• Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment, including working at heights.

• Completed vocational training or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a wind turbine technician , with proven experience on large-scale turbines.
• Strong understanding of wind turbine systems, including gearbox, generator, pitch, and yaw systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance management software .
• Valid working at heights certification and GWO Basic Safety Training certificates are essential.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
