About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to join their team in Bloemfontein, specializing in hydrology and water management. This role is critical for the sustainable management of water resources, involving the analysis of water systems, flood control, and water supply infrastructure. You will play a key part in developing solutions for water-related challenges, including drought mitigation, flood protection, and the optimization of water infrastructure for both urban and rural communities.
This position offers a chance to work on vital projects that impact regional development and environmental sustainability.
- Conduct hydrological studies and analyze rainfall, runoff, and groundwater data to assess water availability and risks.
- Design and manage infrastructure for water supply, distribution, stormwater management, and flood control.
- Develop water balance models and optimize water resource allocation strategies.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis for rivers, channels, and drainage systems.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design drawings for water resource projects.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists, urban planners, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated water management solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Hydrology.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in water resources engineering, hydrology, and hydraulic design.
- Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar.
- Experience with water infrastructure design, including dams, pipelines, and treatment facilities.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex hydrological data.
