About the Role
Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Automotive Engineer specializing in Powertrain development to join their team in Bloemfontein . This pivotal role involves the design, analysis, and testing of advanced powertrain systems, contributing to the development of next-generation engines and hybrid powertrains. You will lead complex projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovation in a dynamic hybrid work environment.

- Lead the design, development, and validation of new powertrain components and systems, including engines, transmissions, and hybrid systems.
- Perform complex simulations and analyses (e.g., FEA, CFD) to optimize performance, durability, and efficiency.
- Develop and execute test plans for powertrain components and systems, ensuring compliance with performance and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and production readiness.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on powertrain development projects.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in powertrain engineering and competitor advancements.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a specialization in Powertrain.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in automotive powertrain development .
- Extensive knowledge of internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric vehicle powertrains.
- Proficiency in CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, GT-SUITE) for simulation and analysis.
- Experience with vehicle testing and data acquisition systems.
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead technical teams in a hybrid setting.
