About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their operational team based in Bloemfontein . In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our chemical manufacturing facilities. You will provide technical expertise, troubleshoot complex operational issues, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of plant operations and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and optimize day-to-day chemical plant operations to meet production targets safely and efficiently.
- Provide expert technical support for process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Lead process improvement projects aimed at increasing yield, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training to plant personnel.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and process integrity.
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical plant operations and process engineering.
- Strong knowledge of chemical processes, unit operations, and process control systems.
- Proven experience in process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis (HAZOP).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Must be willing to work on-site in Bloemfontein and participate in an on-call rotation if required.
