Lead Geoscientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Geoscientist to guide their exploration and development activities from their Bloemfontein office. This senior position requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in integrating geological, geophysical, and reservoir data to identify and appraise hydrocarbon opportunities within the Oil & Gas industry. You will lead a team of geoscientists, manage subsurface uncertainties, and contribute to strategic decision-making, ensuring the company’s asset portfolio is robust and growth-oriented.

• Oversee and integrate geological and geophysical interpretations to define exploration prospects and development targets.
• Lead the technical evaluation of new venture opportunities and existing asset performance.
• Manage subsurface uncertainty assessment and risk mitigation strategies.
• Mentor and guide a team of geoscientists, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
• Present complex geological and geophysical concepts to management and stakeholders.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Geology, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in exploration or development geoscience, with a strong emphasis on the Oil & Gas sector.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, attribute analysis, and basin modeling.
• Proficiency with relevant software packages (e.g., Petrel, Opend Tect, RMS).
• Proven leadership capabilities and excellent communication and presentation skills.
