About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their exploration and production team based in Bloemfontein . This role is central to evaluating hydrocarbon potential, optimizing recovery strategies, and maximizing the economic value of oil and gas assets. You will leverage advanced reservoir characterization techniques and simulation tools to provide critical insights into reservoir performance and future development opportunities.
This position is ideal for a technically adept engineer with a deep understanding of reservoir mechanics and a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable business strategies within the demanding oil and gas industry .
Perform detailed reservoir characterization studies using geological and geophysical data, core analysis, and well logs. Develop and manage dynamic reservoir simulation models to forecast production, evaluate development scenarios, and optimize recovery methods. Estimate oil and gas reserves and resources, applying industry-standard methodologies and reporting guidelines (e.g., SPE PRMS). Develop and implement strategies for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and improved oil recovery (IOR).
Collaborate closely with geoscientists, production engineers, and drilling engineers to align reservoir development plans. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and external stakeholders.
Master's or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in reservoir engineering , with a focus on exploration and production operations. Expertise in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, Tempest, Petrel RE) and data analysis tools. Strong understanding of petrophysics, geology, and fluid dynamics relevant to hydrocarbon reservoirs. Proven experience in reserve estimation, economic analysis, and risk assessment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for working within multidisciplinary teams in Bloemfontein .
