About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Mechanical Engineer to enhance their operations within the chemical industry in Bloemfontein. This role is critical for designing, implementing, and optimizing mechanical processes and equipment used in chemical manufacturing. You will play a key part in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our production facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical processes and mechanical engineering principles, coupled with a commitment to operational excellence and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and modify mechanical systems and equipment for chemical processing plants.
  • Analyze and optimize process flow, energy usage, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to process equipment, piping, and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, safety, and maintenance teams to implement improvements and maintain operational continuity.
  • Manage small to medium-sized mechanical projects from conception through to completion.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Proven experience as a Process Engineer or Mechanical Engineer in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of process equipment such as pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
  • Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) principles and HAZOP studies.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and simulation tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
