Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Bloemfontein . This position focuses on the analysis of soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and ground improvement for a variety of infrastructure projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and earth structures, contributing to the successful delivery of projects across the Free State province.
The role requires on-site investigations, detailed analysis, and collaboration with design and construction teams in Bloemfontein to address complex subsurface challenges.
- Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing of soil and rock.
- Perform geotechnical analyses for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
- Develop detailed geotechnical reports including recommendations for design and construction.
- Specify ground improvement techniques and monitoring programs where necessary.
- Collaborate with structural and civil engineers to integrate geotechnical recommendations into project designs.
- Oversee geotechnical aspects during construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications in Bloemfontein .
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
- Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Technologist is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Geo Studio, PLAXIS) is essential.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Experience with field investigation techniques and laboratory testing interpretation.
