Our client is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join their advanced manufacturing facility in Bloemfontein . This role is vital for optimizing and maintaining the automated control systems that govern their complex chemical processes. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and tuning control strategies to ensure stable, efficient, and safe plant operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control theory, instrumentation, and distributed control systems (DCS), with a passion for leveraging technology to improve process performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain advanced process control (APC) strategies using DCS and PLC systems.
- Develop and tune control loops to ensure optimal process stability, efficiency, and product quality.
- Troubleshoot control system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Work with operations and engineering teams to define control requirements and implement new control schemes.
- Develop and maintain process control documentation, including P&IDs, control narratives, and logic diagrams.
- Stay current with advancements in process control technology and recommend system upgrades.
- BEng or BSc in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in process control engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Strong understanding of control theory, instrumentation, and measurement technologies.
- Experience with advanced control techniques is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
