Metallurgist - Beneficiation

Our client requires a skilled Metallurgist specializing in Beneficiation to join their processing plant operations in Welkom . This role is fundamental to maximizing the recovery of valuable minerals from mined ore through various physical and chemical processes. You will be responsible for optimizing plant performance, troubleshooting process issues, and implementing new technologies to improve efficiency and yield. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in mineral processing and a practical understanding of plant operations in the Free State mining sector.

• Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes such as crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching.
• Conduct laboratory test work to evaluate new process parameters and reagents.
• Monitor plant performance indicators and implement strategies for yield improvement.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment failures, providing timely solutions.
• Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards in the processing plant.
• Manage inventory of process consumables and maintain accurate production records.

• Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in metallurgical processing, with a focus on base metals or precious metals.
• Proven experience with flotation, leaching, and other mineral processing techniques.
• Familiarity with process control systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a mining context.
