Senior Site Engineer

Our client, a leading civil engineering and construction firm, is seeking a highly competent Senior Site Engineer to join their team in Bloemfontein. This is a crucial on-site role responsible for providing technical expertise, managing site engineering activities, and ensuring the successful execution of construction projects according to design specifications and quality standards. You will play a vital role in overseeing site operations, resolving technical challenges, and coordinating with various project stakeholders, including contractors and consultants.

The position requires a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and a proven ability to manage complex engineering tasks on large-scale projects within Bloemfontein. We are looking for an experienced engineer who is dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in all site activities. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering complex infrastructure projects within the Free State province.

• Oversee and manage all site engineering activities, including setting out, surveying, and quality control.
• Ensure construction works are carried out in strict accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Provide technical guidance and support to site staff, supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor and control the quality of materials and workmanship on site, conducting necessary inspections and tests.
• Prepare and manage method statements, risk assessments, and temporary works designs.
• Identify and resolve technical issues and design discrepancies that arise during construction.
• Liaise with the design team, clients, and consultants to address queries and ensure timely approvals.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, measurements, and progress documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
• Contribute to the efficient management of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant site engineering experience on construction projects.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) is highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
• Proficiency in surveying techniques and the use of surveying equipment.
• Experience with quality management systems and site inspection procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams effectively.
• Familiarity with contract administration and site measurement processes.
• Valid driver's license.
