Senior Transportation Engineer - Road Network Design

Our client, a reputable engineering firm, is actively seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to join their established team in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role focuses on the planning, design, and implementation of road and transportation infrastructure projects. You will be a key contributor, responsible for leading design teams, developing traffic management solutions, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation networks.

• Lead the geometric design of rural and urban roads, highways, and intersections.
• Conduct traffic studies, capacity analyses, and traffic impact assessments.
• Develop comprehensive transportation plans and strategies.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African road design standards and geometric guidelines.
• Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and other disciplines to ensure project success.
• Perform site investigations and reviews during design and construction phases.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and tenders for new projects.
• Stay current with advancements in transportation engineering software and technologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in transportation and road design.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. is essential.
• Proficiency in transportation engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PTV Vissim, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of geometric road design principles and traffic engineering standards in South Africa.
• Experience in traffic impact studies, traffic modeling, and intersection design.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment in Bloemfontein, Free State .
• A valid driver's license and willingness to undertake site visits as needed.
