Senior Cinematics Animator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Cinematics Animator to join their award-winning team in Bloemfontein . You will be responsible for creating high-quality, emotionally resonant character animations for in-game cinema tics and cutscenes. This role requires a deep understanding of character performance, acting principles, and storytelling through movement. You will collaborate closely with the cinematic director and other artists to craft compelling narratives and bring virtual characters to life with believable and engaging performances, contributing significantly to the overall player experience and narrative immersion.

• Animate characters and objects for cinematic sequences, focusing on performance, emotion, and storytelling.
• Collaborate with the cinema tics team to interpret scripts and storyboards, translating them into compelling animated performances.
• Ensure animations meet the project's artistic style, quality bar, and technical requirements.
• Rig characters and props as needed, or work closely with rigging artists to ensure animatability.
• Participate in review sessions, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve animation quality.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Cinematics Animator or Character Animator, with a portfolio showcasing cinematic work.
• Expert proficiency in Maya or other industry-standard 3D animation software.
• Strong understanding of character acting, body mechanics, weight, and timing.
• Experience with motion capture cleanup and integration is a plus.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
