Our client, a vital non-profit organization serving the Bloemfontein community, requires a meticulous and experienced Finance Officer to oversee its financial operations. This role is essential for ensuring the organization’s financial health, integrity, and compliance with all relevant regulations. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial activities, including budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, possesses strong attention to detail, and is committed to supporting our client’s mission through sound financial stewardship in the Free State province.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee all aspects of the organization’s accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets, providing regular financial forecasts and variance analysis.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and management accounts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Process payroll, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations and employee benefit deductions.
- Manage banking relationships and reconcile bank statements regularly.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, audit requirements, and grant reporting stipulations.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with external auditors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting qualification (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA articles) is highly advantageous.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
