Our client is seeking a highly diligent Sanitation Supervisor with a specialization in the food industry to join their team in Bloemfontein. This critical position ensures that all food processing and preparation areas maintain the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and sanitation to comply with regulatory requirements and protect consumer health. You will lead a team of sanitation technicians, develop and implement cleaning schedules, manage sanitation chemicals and equipment, and conduct thorough inspections.
This role is vital for maintaining product integrity and operational excellence within a demanding food production environment in the Free State capital.
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive sanitation programs specific to food processing environments.
- Supervise and train sanitation crew members on proper cleaning techniques, chemical usage, and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular microbiological testing and inspections of production equipment, surfaces, and facilities to ensure effective sanitation.
- Manage the inventory and safe storage of cleaning chemicals, detergents, and sanitation equipment.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and internal company standards.
- Collaborate with quality assurance and production teams to address sanitation issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Proven experience as a Sanitation Supervisor or similar role, preferably within the food manufacturing or processing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety principles, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation best practices.
- Experience with cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and industrial cleaning equipment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations in a food production setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a relevant certification in food safety or sanitation is highly desirable.
