Experienced Registered Nurse; RN Ophthalmic Theatre Scrub Nurse

Location: Bloemfontein

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with strong operating theatre experience to join a specialised ophthalmic surgical team. This opportunity is ideal for a scrub nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast‑paced theatre environment.

• Registered Nurse qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing)
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Minimum of 5 years' operating theatre experience with proven competency as a Scrub Nurse
• Excellent knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation
• Diploma in Operating Room Nursing Science (Theatre Technique) will be advantageous
• Experience in ophthalmic surgery will be advantageous; however, experienced theatre scrub nurses willing to develop ophthalmic skills are encouraged to apply

• Scrub for ophthalmic surgical procedures
• Manage and maintain specialised surgical instruments
• Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques and theatre protocols
• Support efficient theatre operations while maintaining patient safety
• Participate in an emergency on‑call roster (emergency cases only)

• High attention to detail and surgical precision
• Ability to anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Quality-focused with excellent organisational skills
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure
