Our client
, a leading supplier of building products based in Bloemfontein
, is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling transactions efficiently, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a smooth and accurate checkout process. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, trustworthy, and enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment.

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent
• Previous retail or cashier experience preferred, minimum of 2 years' experience
• Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions and cash-ups
• Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office and IQ Retail
• Ability to operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash, card, and electronic payments
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• MUST be willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holiday
• MUST have reliable transport

Duties and responsibilities

• Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system
• Manage cash, card, and electronic payments in line with company procedures
• Provide friendly, professional customer service at all times
• Issue receipts, invoices, and refunds where applicable
• Perform daily cash-ups and ensure balances are accurate
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure checkout area
• Assist customers with queries, pricing, and basic product information
• Follow company policies, procedures, and security standards
• Report discrepancies, shortages, or system issues to management promptly
• Support the store team during busy trading periods when required

Work hours

Monday - Friday: 07h00 - 17h00

Saturdays: 07h30 - 15h00

Sundays: 09h00 - 13h00
