Mining Health and Safety Officer

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mining Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment at their mine site near Bloemfontein . This role is essential for implementing and enforcing comprehensive health and safety programs, conducting regular inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture among all employees and contractors. You will play a key role in risk assessment, incident investigation, and the development of safety training programs.

This position is vital for maintaining compliance with all relevant safety legislation and contributing to the well-being of the workforce.

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site's Health and Safety Management System .
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all levels of site personnel.
• Ensure that all safety equipment is available, maintained, and used correctly by employees.

• National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the mining industry.
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
• In-depth knowledge of South African mining safety legislation (e.g., MHSA).
• Strong communication, leadership, and investigation skills.
