Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in Backend development to join their expanding team in Bloemfontein . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable server-side applications and APIs. This role requires a strong understanding of software architecture, database management, and best practices in coding. You will collaborate closely with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust solutions that meet business needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer to contribute to key product features and influence technical direction.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code using Java, Python, or Go.
- Develop and implement robust RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Integrate with various data sources, databases, and third-party services.
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, Go).
- Deep understanding of database technologies, both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and No
SQL (e.g., MongoDB). - Experience with microservices architecture, message queues, and caching mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker).
