Local Haulage Driver

About the Role

Our client requires a seasoned Local Haulage Driver to manage freight transport within and around the Welkom area. This role is key to ensuring the smooth flow of goods for various industries in the Free State. You will be responsible for operating rigid or semi-trailer trucks, ensuring safe and timely delivery of cargo to designated locations. A professional approach to driving, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with dispatch and clients are essential.

This is a demanding but rewarding role for an experienced driver familiar with the challenges of local distribution.

• Operate rigid or semi-trailer trucks for local freight transport in the Welkom area.
• Transport goods safely and efficiently between distribution centers, client sites, and depots.
• Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and its load.
• Adhere to all traffic regulations and company safety standards.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs and provide feedback on route conditions or delays.
• Assist with loading and unloading when necessary, ensuring cargo integrity.

• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver's license with an excellent driving record.
• Proven experience as a haulier driver or heavy vehicle driver.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Welkom and surrounding Free State road networks.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including potential early starts or late finishes.
• Strong sense of responsibility and reliability.
• Certification in safe load handling is advantageous.
