Our client is seeking a courteous and responsible Bus Driver to operate public transport routes within the Welkom area. This position is critical in providing safe and reliable transportation for commuters, students, and the general public. You will be responsible for adhering to scheduled routes and times while ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers. The ideal candidate possesses excellent driving skills, a strong sense of duty, and the ability to interact positively with a diverse range of passengers, contributing to the smooth operation of public transit in the Free State, and ensuring passengers reach their destinations safely and punctually.
Key Responsibilities- Operate buses in a safe, responsible, and timely manner according to assigned routes and schedules.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers at all times, including assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking.
- Perform daily inspections of the bus, checking brakes, tires, lights, and other essential equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior and report any maintenance issues or mechanical problems immediately.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, public transport regulations, and company policies.
- Provide helpful information to passengers regarding routes and schedules when necessary.
- Valid Code 10 driver's license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and public transport endorsement.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving buses or similar large passenger vehicles.
- Thorough knowledge of the Welkom road network and local area.
- Excellent driving record and a commitment to passenger safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the public.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in various traffic and passenger situations.
