Description
- Responsible for performing routine and specialized MRI and radiographic procedures and examinations for radiological diagnosis.
- Must accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, routine procedural protocols, administer contrast materials, prepare, and operate the MR equipment, associated software, devices, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
- Maintain communication with radiologists and other physicians, patients and their families, and other people.
- Document all patient related information in radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow.
- Perform quality control and reporting tasks, setting up and conducting MRI procedures, maintaining day‑to‑day schedules, assisting radiologist, and contributing to the efficient operation of the department assuring the quality and continuity of patient care.
- Screens patients, employees, and visitors to maintain a magnetically safe environment according to the American College of Radiology standards.
- Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room set‑up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
- Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety.
- Provide coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call off or extended patient schedules).
- Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires. Continuously strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in‑service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs.
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
QUALIFICATIONS: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), MRI certification required within 12 months of employment.
- Required:
Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR). Connecticut Radiographer License. - Two years of MRI technologist experience
- Must be able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
