Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to support precision aerospace manufacturing and inspection operations in Connecticut. The candidate must have strong hands-on experience developing, modifying, optimizing, and troubleshooting CMM programs using PC-DMIS. This is a CMM programming and troubleshooting role , not primarily a CMM operator position.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop CMM programs from scratch using PC-DMIS.
- Create, modify, debug, validate, and optimize existing CMM inspection programs.
- Develop offline and online PC-DMIS programs using engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Troubleshoot programs, measurement routines, probe configurations, setups, fixtures, and inspection-result errors.
- Develop inspection strategies for complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
- Perform program prove-outs and validate measurement routines before production use.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process, and final inspection.
- Analyze dimensional inspection results and help resolve manufacturing and measurement issues.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams.
- Optimize programs for repeatability, accuracy, and inspection efficiency.
- Maintain CMM programs, revisions, inspection documentation, and measurement records.
- Support CMM operators and inspectors, root-cause analysis, and dimensional nonconformance resolution.
- 3+ years of hands-on CMM programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Advanced PC-DMIS programming experience.
- Ability to create CMM programs from scratch—not just run existing programs.
- Experience troubleshooting, debugging, modifying, and optimizing PC-DMIS programs.
- Strong knowledge of CMM setup, probing, alignment, datums, measurement strategies, and inspection routines.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of GD&T .
- Ability to interpret complex aerospace drawings, blueprints, specifications, and CAD models.
- Experience with tight-tolerance dimensional inspection.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and support production-floor quality issues.
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems.
- AS9102 / First Article Inspection experience.
- Advanced GD&T interpretation.
- Experience with complex machined aerospace or engine components.
- Experience with capability studies and process validation.
- Knowledge of Client/nonconformance and root-cause processes.
- Experience training CMM inspectors/operators.
- Technical degree or certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Metrology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
