Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to advise on transportation projects across the New York Metro area. The role is available immediately and requires a strong technical background and project ownership.
Responsibilities- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Evaluate ground conditions and assess their impacts on design and construction.
- Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers.
- Perform work within agreed budgets and schedules with little supervision.
- Independently complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Prepare subsurface exploration programs, laboratory assignments, and geotechnical reports.
- Conduct geotechnical investigations and construction inspections.
- Lead/manage geotechnical engineering investigations.
- Perform pile analysis, slope stability, settlement analysis, ground improvements, and seepage analysis.
- Utilize software such as APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SEEPW, SLOPEW, and GRLWEAP.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structural engineers, architects, environmental specialists).
- Develop and implement quality control procedures for geotechnical projects.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and at least 6 years of related experience or equivalent education.
- Valid US Driver’s License.
- NY and NJ Professional Engineer licensure preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
- At least 5 years of related work experience preferred.
- Experience with pile analysis, slope stability, and seepage analysis.
- Experience with software such as APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SEEPW, SLOPEW, and GRLWEA.
- Ability to prepare geotechnical engineering reports and construction documents.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Salary range: $130,000 – $150,000 per year, commensurate with education, qualifications, experience, and location.
