Position Overview:Loenbro is looking for experienced Welders to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in welding, enabling them to efficiently complete customer projects on time and within budget. This position will plan, lay‑out, weld, install, evaluate, and repair all types of steel structures / piping in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. Job Duties:- Perform GMAW Section IX welding (B31.1/3/4/8) in both roll and position configurations.
- Utilize Pulse Arc welding with a 75/25 and/or 85/15 gas mix.
- Ability to fit up pipes ranging from 2” to 20”.
- Perform 100% Radiographic Testing (RT) with Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).
- Perform welding tasks for both new construction and maintenance/repair work on industrial projects.
- Supervise and train welder helpers.
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications, and plan, lay‑out, install and/or repair for all types of structures in accordance with those plans and specifications.
- Examine and inspect field conditions to help identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost‑saving measures that arise or that may occur. Take corrective actions as needed.
- Carefully choose filler metals and construction material to complete assignments.
- Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Demonstrate motivation by working efficiently, productively, and safely at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of welding principles experience required.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Must have at least one certification in GMAW, FCAW, or GTAW welding techniques.
- Prior welding experience in construction, mining, or related industry OR a two‑year vocational‑technical degree preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of various welding codes and specifications.
- Must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
- Must have proficiency in commonly used welding processes, including SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW. Other processes utilized are Oxy‑Fuel Welding and Cutting.
- Conduct a pre‑hire weld test on 2” double XH 6G pipe to assess skill proficiency.
- Strong Aptitude in using other instruments like micrometers and calipers.
- Provide and maintain your own tools required for the role.
- The ability to work in conditions common to a construction site including, but not limited to, rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, and noise.
- Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work up to a 12‑hour shift.
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1‑50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks.
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on a regular basis.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
- If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to DMV background records search.
