Summary

Serves as a clinical pharmacist providing direct pharmaceutical care for patients within the Indian Health Service. The position is the major source of pharmaceutical clinical information and is expected to manage selected patients with chronic disease states, as well as providing pharmaceutical care for acute patients.

• Interpret and dispense prescribed products, including review of labeling and precautions.
• Provide specialized services to assist patients with managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, and other illnesses.
• Provide information and advice about drug therapy, interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
• Maintain records, including pharmacy files, patient records, inventories, and narcotic/controlled drug control records.
• Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
• Serve as pharmacy consultant and advisor to committees such as therapeutic agents, hospital research, and infection control.

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Probationary period may apply.

• Doctoral degree in Pharmacy (Pharm.
  
  D.) recognized by ACPE or equivalent.
• License to practice pharmacy in a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory, and must have passed the NAPLEX and MPJE.
• Must be able to distinguish basic colors.
• Three to five years of progressive pharmacy experience that includes dispensing, medication evaluation, and clinical advisory roles.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required.

Successful completion of a pre-employment background investigation is required.
