Counseling Pastor – North River Church

The Counseling Pastor oversees biblical counseling at North River Church. He will faithfully offer counsel and equip others to counsel those who need healing and hope at North River Church.

• Demonstrate spiritual maturity, be committed to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, and desire Christlikeness in personal character
• Be teachable and willing to be held accountable

• Be fully committed to the doctrine, vision, and philosophy of NRC

• Master’s Degree, Seminary or ministry degree in counseling preferred
• Ministry experience counseling and equipping volunteers

• Faithfully shepherd, love, and model Jesus Christ to the church family
• Develop and oversee a biblical counseling ministry
• Create various avenues for people to receive counsel
• Provide and facilitate pastoral care and counseling for those needing help, healing, and hope
• Identify, recruit, train, equip, and encourage volunteer counselors
• Work with the other ministry areas to develop a biblical counseling model that has preventative soul care as a priority and clear on‑ramps and qualifications for intensive counseling

• Number of Services:
  Three (3) each week plus Sunday School (Sunday Morning, Sunday Evening & Wednesday Evening Prayer & Bible Study)
• Salary Low $40k

• Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Be a member in good standing of a Baptist congregation.
• Have a desire to teach and mentor youth with patience and an accepting heart.
• Have a passion for leading and equipping Christians to disciple others.
• Have experience in teaching youth in an educational or Christian setting.
• Pass a mandatory background check.
• Be proficient with computers and social media.
• Have a related Bible college or seminary degree (preferred).
• Have a willingness to join, endorse, and support Scottsville Baptist Church and its mission as well as the ministries of the worldwide work of the Southern Baptist Convention.

• To ignite a desire for a genuine relationship with Christ and to equip the youth for the spiritual battle they are in.
• To partner with parents and help them disciple their teenagers.
• To lead and equip all generations to make disciples.

• Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee. (Evaluations will be conducted after the first 6 months and annually thereafter by the Senior Pastor and will be reported in writing to the Personnel Committee.)

• Oversight and leadership of the youth ministries (7th‑12th grades). This includes regularly scheduled activities for youth during church meeting times (e.g., Sunday School, Wednesday nights), special events, etc.
• Creating, planning, and leading special events and trips for youth and families such as D‑Now weekends, camps, trips, holiday‑themed events, Youth VBS, mission trips, etc. These events will be placed on an annual calendar and submitted to the Senior Pastor.
• Planning and implementing creative, relevant new ideas within the ministry.
• Recruiting, training, praying for, and involving new and current youth ministry volunteers.
• Managing the ministry’s budget efficiently and effectively and submitting an annual budget proposal to the Finance Committee for approval.
• Communicating consistently with parents as well as providing the tools they need for spiritual leadership.
• Choosing curricula and other teaching materials for youth areas, upon approval of the Senior Pastor.
• Connecting new individuals and families in creative ways to our church through the youth ministry.
