. This position is located in Barrington, IL and is a full‑time entry level role in Human Resources. Salary range: $55,000.00 – $70,000.00.
This role administers all company health and retirement plans and supports payroll functions. It includes benefit plan management, payroll processing, HRIS maintenance, employee events, safety compliance, and provides guidance on HR topics and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with administration of all company health and retirement plans (medical, dental, vision, FSA, disability, life, voluntary benefits, 401(k), profit sharing, EAP, wellness programs).
- Act as backup for processing of new enrollments, plan changes, terminations, COBRA notifications, life conversions, and benefit entry into HRIS.
- Generate and distribute standard reports to benefit carriers regularly.
- Assist with benefits open enrollment processes, including wellness testing and enrollment meetings.
- Assist with compiling, auditing, and maintaining all information necessary for accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Assist with maintenance of payroll, time and attendance systems and coordinate backups and system updates.
- Develop complete knowledge of payroll/HRIS and time and attendance systems, update and maintain payroll procedures.
- Update employee files to document personnel actions, ensuring compliance with records retention policies.
- Provide guidance and coaching for HR questions, advise employees and management on pay policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Identify and recommend HR process optimization opportunities, streamline and align processes.
- Support safety program, report incidents, and adhere to safe work practices.
- Coordinate and help execute employee events (ice cream days, walk‑at‑workdays, off‑site events, wellness screenings).
Support a culture of safe production and exhibit safe work practices. Participate actively in safety activities, report hazards, provide input on prevention, and use PPE as required.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have:
Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent, or 2–3 years of related payroll experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of HRIS systems such as UKG Pro, UKG Ready, and Paylocity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR laws and payroll regulations.
