The Disaster Recovery Engineering (DRE) team is seeking an experienced Lead Infrastructure Engineer to help advance cloud resiliency and recovery capabilities across the enterprise. With AWS as our primary focus, this role offers the opportunity to work across diverse technologies and application architectures, collaborate with engineering teams to solve complex recovery challenges, and help shape how we validate and improve technology recoverability.
We are a collaborative team that values diverse perspectives, technical curiosity, continuous learning, and innovation. We intentionally make time to explore new ideas, improve existing processes, and develop solutions that make a meaningful difference. If you enjoy solving challenging problems, working alongside talented people, and helping teams build more resilient technology, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with application and platform teams to plan, facilitate, and evaluate cloud recovery exercises, validating application and infrastructure recoverability.
- Review cloud architectures, application workflows, and infrastructure dependencies to identify potential recovery challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot recovery issues, helping identify practical solutions.
- Expand recovery validation beyond compute to include data resiliency, backup and restoration, and critical service dependencies.
- Leverage observability tools and operational metrics to evaluate recovery outcomes, identify gaps, and improve visibility into recovery readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve recovery processes through automation, standardization, and repeatable engineering practices.
Success in this role means helping engineering teams build confidence in their ability to recover from disruptions by making recovery capabilities more thoroughly tested, observable, automated, and repeatable.
QualificationsRequired Skills:
- Strong understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure, architecture, and operational practices.
- Experience supporting, troubleshooting, or improving complex cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
- Ability to understand technical architecture diagrams, application workflows, and infrastructure dependencies.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code, including the ability to review and troubleshoot existing automation.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring practices used to understand application health and operational performance.
- Experience collaborating across engineering teams to investigate technical challenges and drive improvements.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to influence outcomes through collaboration.
Preferred
Skills:
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering, resiliency engineering, or disaster recovery.
- Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or multi-cloud environments.
- Kubernetes or Red Hat Open Shift, including managed cloud offerings such as ROSA.
- Cloud networking, cross-region architectures, and application recovery patterns.
- Data resiliency, backup and restoration, or recovery testing.
