- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions and concerns promptly and courteously, assist guests in meeting their video gaming needs, inform guests about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items as appropriate, apply selling behaviors during transactions, and express gratitude to every guest. Circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
- Address guest questions in person or by phone, respond promptly and professionally to ensure top-notch service.
- Promote Game Stop s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Maintain a clean, organized store and ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Safeguard company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and making bank deposits as required.
- Conduct store inventory counts, stock and restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and alphabetized on the selling floor.
- Support store management in achieving sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits following guidelines.
- Check shipments for discrepancies and report any issues to the Store Manager as needed.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately, ensuring boxes are properly labeled with packing lists.
- Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of management as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow opening and closing procedures and provide timely feedback to store management.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills and genuine assistance to each guest.
- Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Meet performance expectations including attendance, dress, and grooming; operate the POS system and complete required paperwork.
- Basic math and alphabetizing skills; self-motivation and teamwork abilities.
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment; follow written or oral instructions.
- Ability to handle bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
- Remain effective under pressure and handle stress appropriately.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift merchandise up to 30 lbs up to 4 feet high.
