Summary:
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional high level duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.
- Sales Generation and Guest Service:
Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude; answer questions about store and merchandise; recommend, locate, and obtain merchandise based on Guest needs; anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs; demonstrate product knowledge and provide education to the Team; stay informed on current sales, promotions, policies, exchanges, and security practices; achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals; provide legendary service in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area;
maintain knowledge of exchange/return procedures; utilize the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) to accomplish goals; build Guest relationships and develop a client-based business; lead by example with showmanship and high service standards; communicate Guest levels to the Team; coach for improved sales presentations; support leadership actions whether or not the Manager is present; plan sales goals with Store Manager; own store’s sales performance.
- Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development:
Recognize recruiting opportunities; coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards; maintain a positive floor culture; demonstrate appropriate dress and professionalism; participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking; motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks; demonstrate denim showmanship and fit cards; execute department actions and weekly delegation tracking; support department leadership and training shifts; train and coach non-sales positions and adapt to changing sales focuses.
- Visual Merchandise Management:
Own and influence product through zone ownership; execute tools/videos related to zones; delegate and review zones; ensure Visual Standards and checklists are followed; identify merchandising opportunities and communicate solutions; provide store tours and maintain appropriate product display; support performance improvements via the Performance Tracker.
- Operations:
Maintain a flexible schedule (including holidays); complete opening/closing checklists; monitor security risks; follow Loss Prevention guidelines; execute POS procedures; handle corporate calls appropriately; maintain a positive attitude with Guests and Teammates; follow policies on payments, returns, exchanges, and Loss Prevention; navigate tools on the home page; guide non-sales positions; complete scheduled shifts; keep store clean, organized, and shoppable; provide feedback to leadership;
report policy violations confidentially; understand Buckle Code of Ethics; perform other duties as assigned; complete New Hire paperwork per HR guidelines.
- Supervisory and Leadership:
Provide/receive feedback; support Leadership; promote personal and store growth; maintain professional interactions; conduct daily interviews as needed; overcome objections; self-educate on company tools and share with others; administer Buckle Commitment to Success; travel to cover other stores as needed; manage schedule changes responsibly; contribute to mission with high customer service and team spirit; handle special projects.
