The Physician Liaison is responsible for strengthening relationships between the practice and referring providers, enhancing communication, and driving patient referrals. This role serves as the primary link between external healthcare providers and the organization, ensuring excellent customer service, timely follow-up, and education regarding the practice’s services and specialties.
Responsibilities- Referral Development:
Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, medical offices, and referral sources. - Develop and execute outreach strategies to increase referral volume and market share.
- Identify new business opportunities by analyzing referral trends and market data.
- Provider Communication & Support:
Serve as the primary contact for referring offices, addressing questions, concerns, and service needs. - Provide education to referring physicians and staff regarding the practice’s services, specialties, and procedures.
- Ensure referring providers receive timely updates on patient progress when appropriate.
- Conduct regular on-site visits to physician offices, hospitals, and clinics.
- Coordinate educational events, lunch-and-learns, and presentations to enhance visibility and strengthen partnerships.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to support brand awareness and community engagement.
- Operational Excellence:
Track and report referral patterns, outreach activities, and outcomes. - Partner with leadership to develop strategies that align with organizational growth goals.
- Assist in resolving issues that may impact referral satisfaction or continuity of care.
Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in physician relations, healthcare marketing, business development, or related role.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, referral processes, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel within assigned territory to meet with providers and referral sources.
