The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life is proud to be a department within the Office of Student Life, committed to promoting learning and respect in all programs, interactions, and partnerships. The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life serve a community comprised of 70 chapters and over 9,800 members that make up 27% of the undergraduate student population at Indiana University.

We provide support through council advising, chapter coaching, leadership development trainings and workshops, prevention programming, and general organizational and department operations. Our office is student-centered, prioritizing student engagement, involvement and belonging focused on health, safety, and well‑being. Job Summary

The person in this position provides advising and support to chapters and council leaders affiliated with the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life and the sorority and fraternity community. They are also responsible for student organization advising, serving as a liaison to chapter leaders, and developing and implementing assigned programs and initiatives focused on leadership development, involvement and belonging.

Department‑Specific Responsibilities
  • Provides advising and support to at least 1 of the 4 governing councils (the Panhellenic Association, Interfraternity Council, National Pan‑Hellenic Council and Multicultural Greek Council), meeting with council officers regularly.
  • Serves as a liaison to a portfolio of chapters serving as a Chapter Coach, provides support and resources to student leaders and officers within the organization to promote student engagement.
  • Assists chapters by providing support in the areas of risk reduction, leadership development, accountability, academic program support, community service and philanthropy events and programs, crisis management, documentation, and university policy interpretation.
  • Provides emergency response and crisis intervention to the fraternity/sorority community, when needed.
  • Schedules and coordinates chapter advisor meetings with respective alumni from the Council providing them with training, support and resources as valuable campus partners.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of sorority and fraternity life programs, such as the Neophyte Retreat, Greek Leadership Academy, Emergency Leaders Retreat, OSFL Awards and respective initiatives focused on supporting student engagement and community development.
  • Coordinates and leads 1 to 2 signature programs or initiatives annually.
  • Fosters student learning, development, and enhanced educational experiences through direct service (advising, meeting, officer support).
  • Provides education and support to assist chapters with compliance of the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life and university policies.
  • Meets 1‑on‑1 with students, advisors, and alumni volunteers as needed to provide them with advising support and assistance.
  • Works effectively with a broad range of diverse population including freshmen to seniors, graduate students, international students, and non‑traditional students.
  • Provides appropriate referrals for students to other offices or agencies when assistance needed is beyond scope of responsibility.
  • Assists in hiring, training, and development of undergraduate staff and graduate practicum students and/or interns.
General Responsibilities
