The SPH-B seeks an accomplished academic leader who will provide leadership, vision, and strategic and practical direction for the Department of Kinesiology to advance excellence in research, teaching, and service related to exercise, physical activity, and all aspects of human movement and performance, broadly defined.

This 12-month appointment would ideally start July 1, 2027, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by November 18, 2026, will receive full priority consideration, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. This position is located on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University. Successful candidates are expected to work on campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, university, and community.

Indiana University bases tenure and promotion recommendations upon performance in research, teaching, and service. The Chair is responsible for effective stewardship of the department's budget, resources, and funding priorities and works to identify opportunities that support the department's strategic goals and continued growth.

The Chair promotes effective, transparent, and timely communication within the department and serves as an advocate and representative for the department to the school, university, profession, and broader community. Beyond administrative responsibilities, the Chair is expected to maintain an active research program with scholarship, contribute to teaching/mentoring, and provide service aligned with an appointment as Professor.
