Overview
Ultrasound Technologist - PRN at Indiana University Health, Bloomington Hospital. Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for independent operation of sonographic equipment, evaluation of image quality, collaboration with radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Ensures patient safety and comfort, positions patients correctly, adjusts equipment, maintains compliance with disinfection practices, assists with minimally invasive procedures, familiar with ultrasound contrast indications, provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.
Responsibilities- Operate sonographic equipment independently.
- Evaluate image quality and adjust settings for optimal images.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic information.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures, explain process, position patients correctly, adjust equipment as needed.
- Maintain compliance with high level disinfection practices.
- Assist with minimally invasive procedures as needed.
- Assist with intraoperative ultrasound as requested.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support certification through AHA required.
- Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when patient condition does not permit routine positioning.
- Active status of one of the following registries for ACR accredited departments: ARDMS, ARRT, CCI, applicable.
- For non-ACR accredited departments: must have completed ultrasound education program or passed ARDMS physics boards; certification within 12 months of hire.
- May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) if applicable.
