Overview
The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at the IU Indianapolis campus invites applications for one open rank tenured or tenure-track assistant, associate or full professor position in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
. The candidate will have a tenure home in the Department of Human-Centered Computing, with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Computer Science. Appointments will begin August 1, 2026, on the Indianapolis campus. Candidates should have an excellent research record, demonstrated through high-impact peer-reviewed publications, and demonstrate the ability or significant potential to secure external funding and develop a forward-looking research agenda as a Principal Investigator (PI).
The typical effort for a tenured or tenure-track faculty member is expected to be 40% research, 40% teaching and 20% service.
Research expertise in any promising area at the intersection of AI, People, and Data Science will be considered, with preference for candidates who match technical depth with human-centered applications. The candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and collaborate across disciplines to address real-world data challenges.

The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering is the first school in the United States devoted exclusively to Informatics and a range of its subdisciplines. The school provides state-of-the-art facilities including fully equipped classrooms, labs for media and gaming, human–computer interaction research labs, usability and mobile development labs, and studios for sound design and interactive media production. The school is home to several centers including the Polis Center and Luddy Artificial Intelligence Center in Indianapolis.
