Overview
The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Computer Systems in the Computer Science department, beginning August 1, 2026. We seek candidates with an outstanding record of research, demonstrated through high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a promising forward-looking research agenda. Areas of interest include operating systems, distributed systems, embedded systems, mobile computing, and cloud/data center systems.
We are also interested in candidates working on the intersection of computer systems and other areas, such as systems for novel computer architectures and artificial intelligence. Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
The Computer Science department has over 50 years of history and currently has over 50 faculty members and 1300 students. It strives to be the hotbed of innovation and a leader in computing research and education. Its faculty have pioneered advances in areas including programming languages, hardware design, algorithms, databases, security and privacy, bioinformatics and biomedical science, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering is the first of its kind and among the largest in the country. Its mission is to excel and lead in education, research, and outreach spanning and integrating the full breadth of computing, information technology and modern engineering. It includes over 150 faculty and 3000 students. Departments in Luddy School include Computer Science, Informatics, Information and Library Science, and Intelligent Systems Engineering.
Duties- Research
- Teaching multi-level courses both online and in person
- Participating in course design and assessment
- Service to The School
