Indiana University Bloomington – Teaching Faculty Positions in Computer Engineering
Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for multiple, tenure‑track faculty positions in the field of computer engineering. These positions seek applicants at the assistant professor rank to serve as members of the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, and may hold appointments in any of its departments, including Informatics, Computer Science, or Intelligent Systems Engineering.
These positions are part of a strategic initiative to launch and support our new Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program.
Critical Areas of Interest- Computer Architecture – including In‑/near‑memory or in‑near‑storage processing, circuit/technology impacts (e.g., 3D/chiplets/interposer/wafer‑scale), quantum, superconducting, machine learning, edge computing, and security/privacy in computer architecture.
- Digital Logic Design and VLSI – including ASIC/FPGA design for cyber‑physical systems, System‑on‑Chip (SoC), multi‑die architectures, accelerator‑based computing, brain‑inspired/quantum computing, emerging device technologies, low‑power/reliable design, and secure hardware/software systems.
- Operating Systems and Systems Software – including operating systems, file/storage systems, AI/ML systems, distributed/cloud/mobile systems, secure/reliable systems, big data, embedded systems, virtualization, networking, and complex system management/troubleshooting.
- Analog and Mixed‑Signal Electronics – including circuits for AI/ML workloads, analog circuits/data converters, RF/wireless/wireline systems, imagers, MEMS, medical/display circuits, power management, 2.5D/3D integrated circuits, and secure computing designs.
Successful applicants will be expected to develop an independent and externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our computer engineering curriculum.
These 10‑month appointments would ideally start August 1, 2026, though an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by October 1, 2025 will receive full consideration, and applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
ResponsibilitiesTenure‑track faculty at Indiana University Bloomington are expected to substantially contribute to their department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio, pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding as principal investigator and collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring a diverse population of students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as designated by the department chair; and actively providing service within the department, school, and university while engaging with the profession and/or the community.
Candidates with a special interest in computer engineering are encouraged to apply.
These positions are located on the campus of Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community.
