Part‑Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Advanced Practice Provider, Student Health Center

Responsibilities- Elicit, record, and interpret a complete health history; perform, record, and interpret a comprehensive physical examination.
- Select and order appropriate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and procedures to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings; perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as appropriate.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, including diagnostic testing, prescribing, or obtaining prescriptions for pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic therapies, patient education, and appropriate referrals.
- Participate in the psychosocial management of patients, addressing behavioral health and social determinants that impact health and well‑being.
- Provide care that is student‑centered, developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and trauma‑informed.
- Participate in periodic and/or joint evaluations of care provided, including peer review, chart audits, and direct patient evaluation.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) to support quality, safety, and continuity of care.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing and medical assistant staff; participate in team education and case discussions.
- Work collaboratively with other medical, nursing, and behavioral health professionals to support integrated, coordinated, and multidisciplinary care.
- Act as a health advocate by supporting campus public health initiatives and contributing to health promotion and prevention programs.
- Support quality improvement, risk management, and evidence‑based practice initiatives at both the individual and departmental levels.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including continuing education to maintain current clinical knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to all IU Student Health Center policies and procedures and maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., OSHA, FERPA, HIPAA, CLIA).
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in adapting to changes in clinical operations, patient needs, and campus priorities.
- Support continuity of care and patient access during peak academic periods by delivering high‑quality, student‑centered health services within a collaborative clinical team.
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program, or Master's degree as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or emergency/acute ambulatory care settings.
- 5 years of experience in an outpatient or primary care setting working as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Experience working in a college or university health environment.
- Experience in adolescent or young adult medicine.
- Experience providing preventive health counseling, sexual health education, and/or travel medicine.
- Experience with an integrated electronic health record system (e.g., eClinical
Works).
- Current unrestricted Indiana Nurse Practitioner License or Physician Assistant License.
- Board certification upon date of hire.
- Advance practice registered nurse licensure issued by the State of Indiana upon date of hire or Physician Assistant licensure issued by the State of Indiana upon date of hire.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license within 90 days from date of hire.
- Indiana Controlled Substance Registration and Prescriptive Authority within 90 days from date of hire.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and patient safety.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities in a busy clinical environment.
