Overview
Lead Electrical Engineer position at Entegris in Bloomington, MN within the Scientific Instrument Business Unit of the Advanced Purity Solutions Division. The role focuses on particle analyzer and concentration monitor products; involves designing, developing, testing, and overseeing manufacture of electrical equipment including PCB assemblies and test apparatus, and coordinating with mechanical and software engineering on product design.
What You'll Do- Lead the design of electrical systems for new products in development, including power distribution, control panels, sensors, and motion systems
- Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts using tools such as Altium
- Specify, select, and integrate components (motors, drives, sensors, connectors) for high-reliability applications
- Integrate electrical subsystems with mechanical assemblies and software controls
- Develop and execute test plans for electrical validation, EMI/EMC compliance, and system-level verification
- Serve as the electrical subject matter expert for design, sustaining, change, and continuous improvement of instruments, systems, components used in commercialized industrial systems
- Prepare design and purchase specifications for electrical materials and assemblies through strategically approved supply channels
- Design, develop and create test apparatus necessary to perform a wide range of engineering tasks using computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment
- Lead or co-lead projects related to technology development and new product introduction from concept through release to low or high-volume manufacturing, including phase gate projects, design reviews, prototyping, documentation, regulatory certification, design verification testing, qualification, resource tracking, scheduling, risk assessment and cost estimation
- Conceptualize, design and develop new, derivative and existing product offerings to ensure performance and advancement of technology
- Characterize and test products to meet specified requirements; oversee release to manufacturing through design verification testing, validation/qualification, and prototype build and test
- Provide documentation support such as drawings, SOPs, test procedures, test data, routings
- Write technical reports and compile data to support qualification or change to product, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or requirements
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability, including risk assessment and mitigation
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components and services
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, NPI, product management, and customers to maintain alignment and ensure project success
- Assist in performing root cause analysis on quality issues and troubleshoot to distinguish design vs. functional vs. assembly issues
- Demonstrate sound judgment and data-driven decision making, considering schedule and cost impact
- Mentor junior engineers, interns, and co-op roles

Demonstrated track record of applicable experience with progressing responsibilities; strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to influence at all levels; self-directed - Educational Background

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering; 10+ years of related experience; advanced degree preferred; PE license a plus - Experience

Knowledge of optics and/or chemistries a plus; ability to prove concepts quickly; proven ability to innovate; strong system troubleshooting; strong electrical documentation skills; root cause analysis - Technical Proficiency

Experience with Altium, Github, SPICE, Xilinx; analog/digital circuit design; PCB/stackup design for signal and thermal performance; power supply and harness design; EMC/EMI testing knowledge; ability to learn software tools (Python, CAD viewers, Gerber editors, SAP, etc.); knowledge of EMC test equipment and test methods - Problem-Solving
